Son of Hamas by Mosab Hassan Yousef

In SON OF HAMAS on February 5, 2010 at 15:15
Since he was a small boy, Mosab Hassan Yousef has had an inside view of the deadly terrorist group Hamas. The oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member of Hamas and its most popular leader, young Mosab assisted his father for years in his political activities while being groomed to assume his legacy, politics, status . . . and power. But everything changed when Mosab turned away from terror and violence, and embraced instead the teachings of another famous Middle East leader. In Son of Hamas, Mosab Yousef—now called “Joseph”—reveals new information about the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization and unveils the truth about his own role, his agonizing separation from family and homeland, the dangerous decision to make his newfound faith public, and his belief that the Christian mandate to “love your enemies” is the only way to peace in the Middle East.
  1. What a courageous man of faith. God bless you, Joseph. People of all faiths can look up to you.

  2. […] says that he has converted to Christianity, and that “the Christian mandate to ‘love your enemies’ is the only way to peace […]

  3. My friend Joseph just like his Savior was on a mission to save lives.

  4. Just finished the book. Awesome. God Bless you brother. I will pray for your growth in Christ as well as your safety and your families safety and ultimate salvation. Feel free to contact me. I live in San Diego

  5. Mosab Hassan was able to, somehow, single-handedly erase my prejudice against the Islamic world and replace it with the understanding that our enemies are not each other, but actually The Enemy who desires to dwell inside our hearts and tempts us to hate one another. What a profound truth that so much of the world desperately needs to hear. Thank you, Mr. Hassan, for your courage to do what is right – against seemingly insurmountable odds. You truly are a hero.

  6. Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.( John 15:13)

  7. Dear Mosab,

God bless you and keep you safe under His wings of protection…
Psalm 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

May your work in the Lord Jesus Christ bring salvation to your family and the Palestinian people whom you truly care and love so much. Pray for peace in Jerusalem, the Middle East, and the whole world.

    Brother in Jesus Christ.
    Joel

  8. Dear new brother in Christ,
I am very thankful for your courage to come forth publicly and proclaim the truth of Jesus. You said that what got your attention was that you read in the Scriptures that you should love your enemies as well as your friends. I got saved when I was 8 years old. I am daily overwhelmed by the great love of my Jesus;knowing that He left His royalty and throne in heaven to walk among a sinner such as I and then to rescue me from a life of sin and eternal death. The love of my Jesus amazes me every day of my life.
I pray that the love of Christ will continue to grow in you as I can see that God has His hand upon you for good things. May God richly reward and bless you with His love;peace and protection and give you the desires of your heart. In Christ, Patricia Buchanan

  9. Dear brother in Christ,I am thankful for your courage to proclaim the truth of Jesus.I am ever overwhelmed by the geat love of Jesus;that He would leave His heavenly throne just to rescue a sinner like me is amazing.I pray that the love of Christ will continue to grow in you and that God will richly reward and bless you with His love, peace and protection and give you the desires of your heart.

  10. Mosab,

I could not wait to get the book and read your story, I have not been able to put the book down. You may have your wish and start the Muslims on a dialog of their faith. May you continue to be strong.

  11. I had the opportunity to read the book. I read it non-stop! I completely enjoyed reading this “believable” story, and what appears to be God’s wisdom and guidance as it is poured out on whom He wishes. Apparently, Mosab was used by God, as more than a person who saved many lives and prevented unnecessary death, and more than as a spy for the protection of Israel; maybe as a “LIGHT” to World and the many others who will find God’s presence in their lives in an unexpected way, calling them to Him.

  12. I had been waiting for this book after reading Joel Rosenberg’s blog site. I read it in a day and was so blessed. In my own mind, I had wrestled with the love and kindness I heard from some Muslims whom I had somehow pigeonholed as evil. Mosab’s father is one of those people. We all have watched as one side hates another because of color or nationality of belief, only to realize they were on the same side-the side of hatred and death. How faithful God is to seek for all to know Him. Until we know the God of the cross, we have never known the God Who “so loved.” I will commit to pray for Mosab as I would my own son, my brother.

  13. I would appreciate receiving Mosab Email adress to send him a personal note as a jewish/Israeli guy that truly understands his place in this world.
    Thank you
    Avi Venetzia

  14. Great book! I couldn’t put it down. You are a courageous man Joseph and I know your father is deeply proud of you for living by your convictions. Your love for your earthly father, I beleive, led you to the Christian faith where we worship God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit – one God – a God who loves us by name.

  15. You Sir are a brave man.

I’m not religious but I say God bless you and keep you safe.

  16. Nice book, I just saw another review of this book here and I had to grab a copy. Simply awesome.

  17. There is nothing happening on this earth more important than the work Mosab is doing. He is a hero, an inspiration to all who have the courage to face reality. I thank God for his annointing, and pray for Mosab’s continued protection and strong faith.

  18. I salute you and your efforts to tell your personal journey. I found it a powerful, and sincere, message that should be understood by all thinking individuals. My hope is that, because of who you are, your message will become a turning point for young people who are seeking their own awakening in the middle East.

There are so many wonderful things to experience and share in this earthly life. One of the most important, is the responsibility we all have to do the right thing in life and be a role model for those that look up to us. You have met the challenge Mosab. Your willingness to say what you believe …could make the difference in that area of the world. I pray that this happens. God bless you. –Bruce in Oceanside, CA

  19. I find your life’s account very facinating and see our LORD’s sovereign hand in it. May God bless and protect you Joseph! Grace and Peace through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ my brother.

  20. My husband and I listed to the audio book on a trip this weekend. It was powerful and riveting. The love for your father and his for you was a powerful testimony in itself. You are in our prayers. We wish you many, many blessings in your new life.

    In Christ
    Mary

  21. Mr. Yousef:

Just purchased your new book. Will post some questions for you n about 2 weeks. Thank you for writing the book.

    Good luck and much health,

    Brad

  22. I thank God for what He has done in Yousef’s life and pray that even as his work in Israel saved physical lives, that his witness through his story heard and read will help to save souls.

  23. Mosab, Your book is an answer to relentless prayer. Since the happy day my wife and I saw your story on the Fox News special entitled “Escape from Hamas,” I have prayed everyday for your preservation and for your proclamation of the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You had mentioned in your interview with Jonathan Hunt that you intended to write a book. I have prayed for this book. God has answered my prayer. I continue to pray! God has raised you up for such a time as this. May God bless you, Mosab, my dear brother in Christ. He holds you in His embrace!

  24. Incredible story. I finished it in two sittings. I applaud your courage, and I’m inspired by your faith and new-found clarity. I hope there can be reconciliation between you and your family some day, as I know that must be heartbreaking for you all. And I hope that not only the Middle East, but the world over will be awakened by the teaching of Jesus that caused an awakening in you: “Love your enemies”.

Thank you for writing the book.

  25. I am just reading your book. I am a Christian that was born and raised in Israel. I served in the IDF and did patrols in Ramallah and Al Bireh when you were about 13.
Lord bless and keep you, I know the struggle too, and if we can be of assistance, please let us know.
We have been in California for 7 years now, and I do construction work (currently in San Diego).
I pray the Lord continue to protect you and guide you in His purpose.

  26. Dear Joseph: Your courage will make a difference. As a Jewish guest blogger for the Jewish Republican Coalition, I have taken to following your story and have this essay posted on the website: http://www.rjchq.org/Blog/blogdetail.aspx?id=66628596-8736-46a2-9ad2-b02ccfd40e02
Below please find a copy of the article I wrote about you for the website…I hope to follow you and pray for your continued strength.

    Break the chain of Hatred?

Mosab Hassan Yousef is a person with the courage to be a traitor.

Mosab Hassan Yousef is the 32-year-old son of one of Hamas’ founders, Sheik Hassan Yousef. For over a decade he has worked as a top informant for the Shin Bet in Israel. In 2007, he fled the West Bank and came to California after converting to Christianity.

Although I had already heard of his name a while ago, it was quite astounding to see his recent TV interviews with Christiane Amanpour and Sean Hannity. I raised the volume to make sure I heard every word he said, in total disbelief. I immediately realized that this man, already under death sentence from the Global Islamic Media Front, is speaking out with a cause much greater than selling his book “Son of Hamas.” I know that Mosab Hassan Yousef will have a major impact on Americans who see him. The question really is: How much of an impact will he have on the Middle East?

It is apparent that Yousef believes that he could be the person to open the door for the next generation of Islamic children to get out of the bondage of blind hatred. It is commonly understood that the only real hope for long-term Middle-East peace is to stop the hatred of Jews that is past from generation to generation. It is taught in every aspect of Islamic life, which is dominated by the religion. And Yousef knows what it means to be Islamic. Yousef admits to having been a leader in Hama’s youth movement and was in an Israeli jail with his father. This is where he saw things that opened his eyes to the atrocities that are committed by Hamas and led him to convert to Christianity.

In the interviews, Yousef states that he believes that Islam is not a religion of peace. He says: “The biggest terrorist is the God of the Quran. The more you follow the steps of the prophet of Islam and the God of Islam, the more you get close to being a terrorist. Muslims are good people, but their God is absolutely bad.” These comments have made him a target. But he doesn’t stop there. He says that Hamas is an organization that still lives in the Middle Ages. His most recent comments are hurting Hamas as they are vulnerable on other issues. Back in 2008, The Global Islamic Media Front put forth 6 points that Muslims should consider in response to what Yousef was claiming at that time. I wonder what they will be putting forth to deal with the impact of his book. To begin with, they will certainly ban it and burn it!

It seems to me that Yousef could make a huge difference in the Muslim world. He could be the person who holds up a mirror for Muslims to look at themselves and see what their Quran is really teaching them. Or, Mosab Hassan Youssef’s voice will be silenced, one way or another. I only pray that he remains alive to continue to speak out and be a catalyst for an Islamic Reformation.

  27. The book is good, thought-provoking. Thanks for your courage in writing it. We are praying for you.

  28. Your a traitor and a liar. You bring shame to your dad.

You are paid for the Mossad. This whole “project” is.

    • “Bob”, your response is dripping with hate. Your response is dripping with hate. This man is speaking the courage of his convictions. Why not try a little bit of love and forgiveness as he is advocating. Are you so blinded by hatred that you cannot or do not want to seek truth. I will pray for you. I pray that you can find a small part of humanity in yourself to listen to his message. I pray that you will allow yourself to be loved by others. I pray that you will learn to love others. I hope for you to find peace in your heart and soul.

  29. Praise God for all the Love, kindness, strength, and protection He gives us. Even when we don’t really know Him. We serve a good God. I just wanted to welcome you to the family of God. I also though you would like this bible study. It is a free online study that has teachers to help you and a chat room. It is http://www.bibleschools.com I think you’ll find it very helpful. I did! God Bless and I will be praying for you.
John 8:32 “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

  30. Thanks Mosab for sharing your story. It just goes to show that when we find the truth, then we can really begin to share true love. No matter what may take place in our lives whether past, present, or future there is nothing to fear. All those that read, and adhere to the principles of your story are your family now Mosab. Stay strong and be courageous, for God is with you.

  31. We just listened to the whole story (audio version) on a long drive. Simply astounding. God bless you for your bravery and praise Him for the amazing way He worked in your life. It was humbling to listen to what was going on your life on certain days and compare it to the mundane things I may have been worried about at the same time. Our prayers are with you as you make an amzing impact in the world and we pray with you for your family.

  32. Bravo – Another victory for the one true God. It is amazing that not just Muslims but other groups as well want a god leader. Even the bible recites how people even of yester-year turned to other gods. Unfortunately they were gods that benefited their flesh and their wants. They would not acknowledge the one true God who was already in place and who had taken their place on the cross. I met a Muslim man many years ago at the church I was attending and some of the ladies that knew me came to me at told me of this man how he wanted to accept Jesus. I went and talked to him privately because he was very nervous for being found out of his conversion and self decision. He told me that he had asked the God of Abraham, Issac & Jacob that if He was real to reveal it to him. He proceeded to tell me that night before he had a dream after what he asked of God and that Jesus came to him and told him that He was the only Way. I prayed with him on the spot and never saw him again after that. But I prayed to God that the man and his family would be protected and be a testimony according to His word. I believe that. I know that some Christians don’t let the Holy spirit do the work and their flesh gets in the way of witnessing to others. I also believe that it is not a matter of our God is right and yours is wrong. But like Mosab tells it – God is love. Jesus is the only God that confesses His love for us that He died for us. The work is done. My prayers to you Moseb.
    God Bless

    • Listen to the words you speak, and the passages of the Qur’an from which you quote. Are these words of peace? Are these words of salvation? Can the works of any law whether Sharia, the Ten Commandments, or any religious practice save the eternal soul of man? They have not, nor will they ever be able to.
The ability to save the soul of man belongs to ONLY one (Romans 10:9 and 10), and that is Jesus Christ the KING of all kings, and the LORD of all lords, and it will be at His name for which every knee will bow in heaven, and in earth, and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is LORD (Philippians 2:9-11, Romans 14:11)! These are the words of the I AM, who has created you and loves you; He thought, and thinks of you even before the foundations of the world were ever laid, He has loved you!
But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8).
For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of His Son while we were still His enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of His Son (Romans 5:10).
A few sincere parting questions. Is Allah your friend? Do you know who he is? Does he care for you? Does he love you? Has he ever given you anything, or does he only require things from you? Has he ever given his life for you, or does he require you to carry the load of your sins upon your shoulders by yourself?

      • Beautifully said but I’m pretty sure you’re preaching to the converted.

      • Jonathan, You are preaching to the choir. He is already a christian. Did you not read his book or listen to the interviews he has given. Lighten up brother.

  35. I will be praying for you. Admire your courage and willingness to share your insights with Moslems and non Moslems alike. You are having an impact. God protect and keep you in His service.

  36. I am so sorry for you brother Mosab. I hope you realise the true message of the prophet and Islam someday, and you’ll realise your mistakes.

If you get the time please check this Youtube video that helps explain what i heard you’ve been claiming against Islam about Jihad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_PDCyWIm9o

    • I am so sorry for you Mohamed. Just try for a moment to listen to his arguements with a clear mind. Clear of the hatred.

  37. Hello Bro
I have purchased the book, i haven’t finish reading it yet, but i have to admit, that this will be the first book, i’ll read cover to cover.
I have a question, Your relationship with your familly may be damaged today. I have read how your family was suffering when your dad was away, and there’s no doubt that you love your mom to death, i would like to know, if you are in touch with her, if you do help her when necessary, and how does she take it
    Thanks

  38. I immediately bought and fully read the Amazon KINDLE version of this book, which I could not put down. I consider it one of the most important books I have ever read. Dr. Stanley Monteith and I will be discussing it this evening (3-17-2010) at 4 p.m. Pacific time on his radio program. This book should be REQUIRED READING! The author had tremendous courage and has already received an unfair share of marginalization. I know how it feels!

  39. Dear Mosab,
Your story is so inspiring. I read your book and could hardly put it down. I pray that your family comes to Christ.I am sure that is your dream.Keep your faith in Christ even when times get tough.

  40. This is an amazing book. Extremely revolutionary.

  41. Thanks you for being courageous enough to take a stand for Jesus and his teachings. May you be blessed…see you on the other side!

  42. Mosab…

I found you’re book fascinating. I couldn’t put it down. I’ve always been interested in the middle east conflict and why peace has escaped them for so long. Som of Hamas is a great read that gives the reader an inside look at the conflict.

Your book confirms a quote I heard many years ago…”The Palestinians will only find peace when they learn to love their children…more than they hate the jews.”

    Their hatred is so deep.

Sad …but true. In time, hopfully the palestinian people will see that their hatred towards the jews only hurts themselves. They are truely decieved.

You are truely a courageous young man…a role model for others who know they are on the wrong path.

I will continue to pray for you…but fear not. The Lord has brought you this far…and He will continue to protect you and keep you safe. And when the Lord is ready…He will reveal to your father what you already know.

If you every want to correspond, you have my e-mail.

    Peace, my friend.

    Teddy

  43. I am reading your book now. I am up to the Damascus road chapter. My heart goes out to you and your people. Jesus is the only true answer to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But until then, politically speaking, I will stand with Israel.

  44. i think this is a new way of betrayal..and definitely he will regrete that sooner or later..hopefuly not too late

  45. I stayed up for 2 days until 2 am to finish this incredible book.

Absolutely fascinating – wonderful – groudbreaking – brave – true intrigue – Hollywood could only wish for such truth!

America is so proud of you!!

  46. I loved reading this book Mosab. Incredibly insightful, you are a brave and courageous man. Please post more information about your experiences since publishing the book.

I am listening to your interview with the BBC, very hostile.

  47. Then Peter said, “See, we have left all and followed You.” So He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, “who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.
    Luke 18:28-30
The Holy Bible, New King James Version, (Nashville, Tennessee: Thomas Nelson, Inc.) 1982.

  48. I read the book. Very enlightening … couldn’t let it down until I finished it. Hopefully a lot more people will read it too!

  49. Mosab, Not sure if this message will reach you. I just want to send you the warmest greeting from a fellow Jesus follower. I finished your book in two days, stopping many times to thank God for you and to pray for you. Your book make the middle-east struggle personal to me. I know I will pray more for your people and the Israeli people from now on. I also pray God will keep your heart pure and your faith strong in a country where the temptations and spiritual warfares are different, but just as real. Love in Christ – a Chinese believer.

  50. Praise the Lord for his amzing work, even in a someone like Mosab Hassan Yousef.

  51. I have just finished reading the book and am grateful to our Lord that He provided the courage for it to be written. I pray that He will use it to change many hearts for the Kingdom before His second coming! Blessings and shalom,
    Peggy

  52. Hey Josef! I’m a Ukrainian- Israeli Jew believe in Jesus Christ.I was so encouraged by your testimony and what the Lord did in your life and through you. I’m serve with Jews for Jesus ministry in Israel you can read my story :http://www.jewsforjesus.org/about/israel/yarden

  53. I LOVE that I’ve finally heard someone say publicly that the Christian world’s only response to terrorism must be to practice what we read and preach “love your enemies”. Drench our Middle Eastern enemies in humanitarian aid….I don’t know, just plain love, whatever they need to know that we don’t hate them.
    You’re my hero Joseph.

  54. Christ Jesus lives to “make all things new”!!! Amen

  55. This is an excellent book, well written – shows us the truth of God’s love for a hurting world and a person who with honesty and transparency, fearlessly shows us his heart and reveals God’s blessing and power as this man obeys his instinct and eventually God’s truth as he walks a journey toward faith in Christ, in the process exposing a world view that opposes the very creator who loves and draws a hurting world to Himself. Thanks Joseph for writing it – God protect you and continue to fill you with His presence and give you courage to keep walking with Him day to day, trusting the God of the universe to keep your family and also draw them to Himself.

  56. The Son of Hamas is a truly amazing book. Absolutely a must read!
This is the book that I have been looking for; one that accurately explains current events as well as the lives of both Arab and Jew in the Middle East conflict; historically and present day, but even more importantly expounds upon the true solution (contextually, to the Middle Eastern chaos, but more specifically the world’s chaos) who is Jesus Christ, the longing of every heart whether they now it or not. This book captivates you from the first page to the very last. I do not read very many books more than once, but this one is one that I will read again and again.
And to Mosab. I am praying for your family, that they also might experience the Freedom, Joy, and Love that you experience in Jesus Christ. Your brother in the Lord.

  57. I am so moved by your candor and your outright commitment to Christ. You are a true soldier of the cross. When people look to see if they have given all for Jesus they have only to look to you.I am proud and humbled by your dedication and commitment to following our Lord. I pray the Holy Spirit continues to protect and guide you in all things and that one day when we meet face to face we can sing praises to our king together. God Bless you in the Service of our King Jesus Christ!!!

  58. I’ve finished the book. You’re an honourable man and I believe your book has a very important message to the world, probably for Christians more than anyone. Well done.

  59. Bro. Joseph, God Bless You my brother in Christ!

First of all, I’m truly surprised I’m the first to comment on this website. Having said that, I must say that after reading your book (which I read in about 2 sittings) I admire your courage and bravery throughout all the trying times in your life, including the trials you must be facing now. However, I admire more, your humility, as expressed in the book I just read–your desire to follow Christ’s footsteps and follow His commandments without seeking money and power. I will definitely recommend this book to as many people as I can. I’ve already told my husband he must read it next.

Even though I don’t know you, I feel like you’re an old friend. My heart goes out to you, and I wish that I could say, give us a call when you need someone to talk to. Please at least know that we will keep you in our prayers, along with your family, your friends, Palestinians, Israelis, and Christians living in the Middle East.

God Bless You and if you would like to contact us, please email gradijkah@yahoo.com

  60. Dear Joseph, I praise God for the power of His word to transform lives in the midst of such a situation as you were in. It encourages us to continue to pray for your family that they too will know the power and love that Jesus brings. Here in New Zealand in our town we have several Christian groups who meet regularly to pray for your homeland. God bless you, brother.

  61. For Mosab – I purchased your book this past week, already on Chapter 27. This is a great book, and very enlightening for all of us who do not understand the Middle East conflicts. Honestly, no one should have to live the way they are living, on either side. It would be nice if someone could get these terrorists think a differently than they do. They sound to really “like” conflict. No one will ever win on the road they take, too bad that does not seem to matter to them. What’s wrong with live and let live? I guess the Koran is what is wrong with that idea.

Anyway, you young man, all you went through, just an amazing story and very well written. With all the American news just touching on the subjects and things that happen year after year; you explained each tragic moment in great detail helping me understand it all much better. God has indeed already blessed you obviously. Enjoy America – it’s not perfect here either, but do enjoy it’s freedoms and opportunites as there are many of both here. Enjoy life, as it should be enjoyed. May God continue bless you and your whole family.

  62. I have read this remarkable book. This is a message that the world needs to hear. I thank God for Mossab’s courage and faith and pray for his safety.

  63. I just finished your book and it is a wonderful courageous story. What a wonderful God, the God of the Bible is to have led you through such an amazing life and to have brought you to the truth for the middle east and the rest of the world. May He continue to use you for His glory!!

  64. A man who thinks for himself, instead of following others blindly.

God bless you, Mosab Hassan Yousef.

  65. Great book (I bought the CD’s and it brought the book alive) and I learned the details of things I had seen in the news over the years and could not understand why the PLO and others were killing each other.
You are a very brave man and I have a greater understanding and appreciation for the Palestinian thinking. I just wish this administration would listen to you and help instead of threatening the Israel’s. I do not have any idea how to solve the terrible issues in that region but you do.
Hope for your success and I support you and your work.

  66. This is such a gripping book! I read it in 2 days. I’m the same age and always looking for inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. I look forward to reading your next book in 30 years and find out what happens.

  67. Amazing story and explains the mindset of the people who hate one another. Praying that God will bring peace to these related groups of people. Come Lord Jesus.

  68. Mr. Yousef:

As I mentioned in a previous comment, I have read and finished your book. Congratulations, and I wish you continued strength in your future endeavors.

Your decisions to assist the Israeli’s took great courage and hugh risk. It is very sad to see the pain and struggle that your people have gone through, and continue to go through.

Personally, I do not believe that the success of your people will ever result from violence. There are no winners from violence. However, as you correctly pointed out, there will never be peace since there are elements of extreme hatred on both sides that will prevent true peace.

While the entire granting of the land to the Israeli’s by the British government after WWII is very suspect, curious, and one wonders about the back room lobbyist groups who pushed this concept, the fact remains that the land of Israel is there to stay.

What confounds me is why leaders of the various Arab governments have failed so miserably in building up their countries and people especially those oil rich nations. Education, increasing population and working within the system(s) of area could only build real wealth and real power to change and influence. Yes, it takes maybe 4-5 generations but eventually it works. Why has your leadership failed to take this path?

    Please email if you wish.

    Regards,
    Brad Naples

  69. I love you Mr. Yousef. I have sent a message to you before. I am an African American woman who is a jew (by conversion), I was born and raised Christian.

I love and respect you and my prayers are always with you my dear Brother.

  70. I picked this book after listening to the NPR piece on it. I found the premis to be very interesting. I can only say that after reading it, it has prfoundly changed my view of what I thought I knew about the strife between Isreal and the Palestinians and the broader Arab world. I am of the Jewish faith and have always felt an affinity with Isreal and the struggle of the Jewish people in that region of the world, I now feel I have a more balanced and fairer view, and will seek to learn more about what I clearly know very little about.

This is not just your story anymore, it belongs to the world, and everyone should listen to what you have to say. Thank you for sharing it, and moreover, thank you for having the courage to live the life you did.

  71. I thank Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit for you. That he has reveild himself to you. That you’re in truth. May God strenghen you in it.

  72. Mosab, I am deeply moved in my heart as I just finished your book. Your love for Jesus Christ is now a great testimony to all of us and shows what true love is. I had wrongfully thought of the Palestinian people as the “bad people” and Israel the good people. You have shown me that God loves all people in your homeland and how I pray there can come a time soon when both sides will be at peace. I also pray many people will trust in Jesus Christ as Savior, Lord and coming King as they read how He changed your life. Please know that many of us are praying for you and are so pleased that you had the courage to tell this true story. I know your heart must be broken to be away from your family, but we Christians here in the USA are your family also and love you. I can now say that I love the Palestinian people, as I should all people. I am so ashamed that I had classified Palestinian people as the ones who had to be destroyed or removed altogether from the land of Israel. Jesus truly is the answer to this crisis. Please forgive me for not loving and praying for the Palestinian people. When you explained the relationship you have with your family and how they love you as well, it really hit me hard that your people are very important in God’s eye’s. How could I have forgotten how Jesus reached out to everyone, and particularly the Gentiles. Again, I ask to please forgive me. Thank you Mosab! You are a great servant of Jesus Christ, no matter how long you have been a Christian. God is, and will continue to open many eyes through your ministry. I hope you will write many more books and perhaps become an evangelist to share the truths of God’s Word as well. You are a very intelligent man and we need leaders like you.

  73. Mosab, your sensational story made it hard for me to put your book down. It is a story that Christians in America just love to hear, a story of a remarkable conversion to Christianity from Islam and a story that protrays Islam as a religion of violence when taken seriously. Whether Islam is a religion of peace of violence has been debated continuously in the USA since 9/11, so it is tempting to grasp at this story as explaining the situation of the Middle East. We all want an easy way to understand the complicated circimstances. I do not claim to understand the conflict fully, but I have made two study tours to the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the past 18 months to meet with people who work there in peace building. So my question, while reading the book, was, “How does this book contribute to building peace on the ground there?” and “How might this book be received by the Palestinian Christian community there?” I do not see how this story can possibly help their situation. It will certainly put Christians there at greater risk than they already are due to a story that mixes conversion to Christianity, the religion of the West, with being a spy for the enemy during a time of war. Christian in the Middle East are under seige due to being identified with the religion of the West, and this book does much to reinforce this perception. Please help me understand how this book does anything to promote peace in Palestine and build security for the traditional Christian communities in your homeland.

    • Garry, knowing the truth is the first step toward peace. Peace process that established on lies and deceive is not a true peace, why Christians of the middle east are afraid of persecution are they better than their God who was persecuted? Big part of their persecution because they are not saying the truth!!!

  74. A fascinating read, an incredible journey and a man whose heart is much like the heart of his earthly father. To find Jesus in the middle of the horrors of war gives me hope for others in the middle east. To take a look around and have the courage to see things as they should be instead of simply believing what others before you believed is remarkable and rare indeed.

May I suggest the book “The Blood of Lambs” by Kamal Saleem. Another remarkable middle eastern man who came to know Jesus.

  75. An awesome book. Very well written.
I appreciate the forthright truth spoken regarding Islam. It is not palatable to many or politically correct, but it is striking and honest.

  76. Joseph, thanks for writing this book, it has helped me understand the history of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, which was one of my goals in reading it. You are very brave , and I want you to know that you will always be in my prayers. I pray that the Lord will give you peace and inner joy. He has truly used your life in a mighty way and your rewards will come at a later time , as you so clearly know. I pray for your safety, and your freedom from the enemy of fear as you go about your day in our country. We are blessed to have you here.

  77. This is one of the most interesting stories I have ever read. I will recommend your book to everyone. I truly admire your courage. I wish you safety and success and hope we will see peace in the Middle East in our lifetime.

    Truth and forgiveness.

  78. Joseph, I never doubted my faith in Jesus Christ not even once. Now that you came forward and publicly announced that Jesus Christ has changed your life significantly, you have augmented my faith even more. I believe God is always beside you and is constantly guiding you. He now dwells in you. It is to my understanding that He has sent you on a mission. Because of that, I firmly believe that you will succeed. It is a difficult one but again you will succeed. You are not only an inspiration to me but an inspiration to the whole Christian community all over the world. Keep up the good work and peace be with you!

  79. My Dear Brother Joseph,

Than you very much for your courageous confession, I listenned to the account of your life on the 7CDs non-stop and I am sure will continue to listen to the Cds over and over again. Although, born a muslim like you (to a significantly less fanatical African Muslim family in Africa)and converted by conviction a believer of Jesus Christ for over 15 years now, I am now truly sure that my life will never be the same again after listening to your experience both as at when you were a muslim and your travails since your conversion. I used to think my life was complex, but now I know better.

I can understand how your fellow Palestainian feels, but if it is any consolation to them, your account has given me personally (and I believe, many others) the opportunity to understand, at least fairly better, the position of your people in this conflict. It made me to truly appreciate their frustration as well as the futility of their path to dealing with the situation. It also afforded the opportunity of hearing the other side of the story and provided another side to the conflict other than the one-sided part that is readily abound.

If your people care to listen to your story they will see that It serves their cause too. I prayed that the Good Lord will open their heart to appreciate your concern for them that has been so truly put forth in your story. For me, it afforded better understanding, and creates an opportunity for knowledge of the truth, the type, incidentally you were not opportuned to know when you threw your stones, but which I am certain is well known to some then and now but they refrained from sharing and thereby continue to encourage the shedding of innocent blood.

For your solution or recommended path to peace to work, it is not only the Muslims that will have to stop listening to the commands of the Quran God, but the Jews/Isrealis will also have to forget about the “Judaism God” that seek ‘an eye for an eye’ as Jesus instructed them in Mat 5:38-39 and accept the True God of Love.

There is no love in both Judaism and Muslim way of life they are both, if looked at properly the same side of same coin. Like you, they all need to flip to the other side of the coin and embrace the Prince of Peace, the only True God. I thank God for your life and truly welcome you to the walk with Christ, whatever happens, I pray that God’s will in your life will always be sufficient and adequate for you. Do not be disappointed that you have not be allow a sojourn yet in America, I believe that the Good Lord that has started using your life to work wonders in the life of others will not forsake you, He is a rewarder of those that diligently serve Him. He is the almighty Healer, I pray most especially that He will heal the wounds in the hearts of your Mother, Father, brothers and Sisters in Jesus’ name amen. The peace of the Lord that surpass all understanding continue to abide with you for ever amen.

  80. Great life and a great book.
Courage to see through what everyone is showing you.

  81. Mosab.

Truth and forgiveness ARE the only solution for the Middle east.

Your courage and insight has completely overwhelmed me. The history and current state of the Middle East and Islam has been a fascination for me since I studied it during year 11 at school (in 1985). Since then I have read numerous texts and novels around the subject.

Your book I read this morning (literally). I shall read it again and recommend it far and wide.

As Christians in New Zealand we are a long way physically from your conflict but very near to you in prayer. I pray that God will find a way to fill the hole in your heart caused by the isolation of the courageaus path you have taken.

    His peace be with you.

  82. Mosab,

I just posted on another one of your posts, but thought I would write again! I recently heard your interview with the International Spy Museum podcast and just wanted to let you know what an amazing story I think it is. I can’t imagine everything you have gone through and the bravery required! The Holy Spirit is doing great things through you! God bless you and give you strength and bravery as you begin a new life here.

  83. For the past two days I have been consumed with reading this amazing book. Thank you Joseph Mosab for sharing your story with us! I have been wanting to read the book since I found out about this story on YouTube. Most eye-opening for me has been seeing my own Christian faith through someone else’s eyes. I think I am no longer ashamed to call myself a Christian, thank you for teaching me about my own faith! God bless you and reward you for all the sacrifices you have made. Your story is epic, like the warrior Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita.

  84. When I read the last article on this page: https://sonofhamas.wordpress.com/author/sonofhamas/ I cried. Cried for both Mosab Yousef and his family. It is true, no one can really imagine or understand the enormous price you have paid. What can I say? I can only pray that in some way God will bless you Mosab Yousef and your family, and give you peace that passes all understanding. May your sacrifices yet bring some hope to an otherwise hopeless situation. May all respond to Christ Jesus – Matthew 11:28

  85. God Bless you, Brother. Your story is heart-retching and heart-warming at the same time. I will pray for you and your family. Thank you for shining a light on something I had not seen so clearly before reading your book. You have inspired me to continue to read about the Mid-East culture and to try to better understand the differences (and similarities) among all of God’s children. Thank you for lighting this candle.

  86. I have 1 question for Mosab. I’m impressed by your courage and wisdom, but how can you say that the vast majority of Muslims are really not on board with the violent agenda, and are silent out of fear, and fear of shame… but how is it that so so many even in western nations take more than a passive roll in promoting their violent religion? and support of terrible laws and policies..?

It seems to me that they don’t know much about their religion but something about their long past traditions makes them violent and defiant of reason, without even knowing what makes them do it. and THAT includes MOST muslims… (my father grew up in Egypt…)

  87. God bless you!!!!

This man has lead an amazing life and I can’t wait to read about it…God Bless! My prayers go out to Mosab Hassan Yousef and his family !

  90. Dear Yousef,
This may be the third time I read your amazing book. You saved many people, Israelis and Palestinians innocents caught in the crimes of the past and sad history. I rath Israel and all readers the full picture. The two sides who want peace and begging to compromise in order to manage a normal life in the Holy Land three religions. I want to thank you on my behalf and saving citizens of Israel, as one who comes And comments absorbs hundreds of missiles per year. I want to thank you for the mission of peace and compromise solution. Sacrificing your life and loss of family life to the goal of peace. Your constant war and terrorist regime which is targeted innocent civilians.
Are you in touch with your family? Do you get to Israel? Be representative of the peace process and your opinions?
Thank you, Ziv Levy Israel 14

  91. When I return home to Singapore, I’m going to get your book from the book stores. Failing which I will try to borrow it from the libraries. Currently I am in Malaysia, and am not sure if your book is banned. But I imagine it is. I read the e-version of your book, but I want to keep a hard copy for myself. Thank you so much for your courage that inspires
